As we wrap up vacations, send the kids back to school and start looking forward to enjoying cooler evenings, this is also a great time to take some preventative measures to help ensure that you enjoy months of worry free driving. Here are a few things we always suggest taking care of at this time of year:
- Check your fluid levels. It may seem basic, but a recent study found that nearly a third of car owners neglect checking the levels of vital fluid such as their engine oil, coolant and windshield washer fluid. It only takes a couple of minutes to do this, but it's essential that you do this regularly.
- Replace your wiper blades, and consider switching to rubber-clad blades for the winter. Go ahead and stock up on extra washer fluid, and make sure that you have an ice scraper in the trunk.
- Check your tires for uneven wear and cast a critical eye on how much tread you have left. Be sure to check your tire pressure monthly, but only after they've had a chance to "cool down" after use.
- Scrape any corrosion away from your battery posts and connections, and give thought to having a professional check to see if your battery is getting weaker.
- With longer nights coming, make sure to check all lights and bulbs and replace any that need it. Take a moment on occasion to wipe the lenses with a moistened cloth or towel to remove any grime that may have accumulated.
Of course, there's always more you can do to make sure your ride is ready. Consider scheduling an appointment to let our team of factory-trained experts take a look at your Honda vehicle and make sure it's ready for the change in seasons.
