The Honda Civic is one of the most popular cars on the road today, and we can proudly say that the 2013 version is the safest one yet. The flagship new Honda model was recently awarded the highest possible overall safety ratings from two respected institutions: the NHTSA (National Highway Safety Administration) and the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). The distinctions received are the 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score and a TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation, respectively.
Both the sedan and coupe varieties of the Civic received the TOP SAFETY PICK+, the first and only small car to earn this distinction. In order to qualify, a car must meet or exceed good safety ratings in four out of five tests. Not to be outdone, the Civic received above average ratings in all five tests.
At Fox Honda, we are also excited to report that the Civic isn't the only new Honda model with incredible safety stats. Honda is presently ahead of all other automakers in terms of safety with each one of its tested 2013 models receiving either a TOP SAFETY PICK or TOP SAFETY PICK+ IIHS rating. In fact, the Accord received the same two ratings as the Civic in the midsize car segment.
